The wait

Standing by the patio

I see the flock of birds

Returning back home

Chirping their way into dusk

Sharing the moments they experienced

Sharing the places they explored

Watching them was a routine

That I never missed

For I hoped for them

To bring me a message

A message, from my beloved

Seasons have changed

And years gone by

But my eyes still await

Your sublime sight

My patience is withering

And my hope is falling

But my heart knows

Your return can be healing

Life has not been easy

Living through this sorrow

But I am willing to wait

Till my last date’

For we are meant to be together

Come back

And spare me of this spate

Days are passing by

And the nights are getting darker

The wait for you is only getting longer
